Happy New Year…

What a wonderful start to the year we have had.  My daughter Jazmine just presented me with the most treasured gift, a book she wrote, illustrated and made herself. Jazmine is ten years old.  Her story was funny and colourful.  A gift I will treasure for a lifetime.

Here a novel challenge to get those creative juices flowing.  A picture book writing challenge, with a twist.  12 stories in 12 months.  Sounds terribly easy doesn’t it?  Well, why not give it a shot.  For more details visit Julie Hedlund’s site:

Join the challenge and I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised at your writing efforts for  2012.

Christmas is near…

Another year comes to an end.  It seems only yesterday I was writing last years Christmas messages.  Jelli-Beanz Publishing has had a great year in both development and growth.  Our blog and facebook pages underwent up dates and changes resulting in a large jump of ‘followers.’  Recently, we also launched a new website which hosts a large amount of traffic on daily basis.

Throughout the year we have participated in several events such as Book Week, Marshall Hill Week, National Poetry Week, National Children’s Week, Kindy market Night, Japanese Cultural Festival. Our team also worked tirelessly on several projects including the launch of A Shadow at Cape Naturaliste, Billy Cart Derby, My First Spelling Chart and Hopscotch.  All of the titles are available in paperback from all good book stores and via online shopping cart through our secure web-cart facility and as an ebook via Amazon and Itunes.

Jelli-Beanz Publishing new warehouse facility in outer Melbourne started as a vacant block of land earlier this year and is now under construction.  Completion is due mid 2012.   This will be an exciting step in our growth and future opportunities.

2012 boosts a busy schedule.  Events have already been planned for National Literacy Week, National Library Week, Education Week, Book Week, National Poetry Week, Haiku Festival, Children’s week, Japanese Cultural Festival, several local school fates and I am very happy share a secret – I will be co-hosting a festival in October.  I can’t spill all of the beans at this point!

We also have several titles planned for 2012 including Packed Lunch Vol 2 – Hot Chocolate, Benjamin and the Castle of Tomorrow and the launch of a picture book series with Spider Ink Press.  We also have two other titles approved however – these are a secret…Shhhh.

In the new year we will be posting up our new PLANNER for our readers to follow.  This lists all events, appearances, tours, interviews  and other information in advance.

Over the coming weeks we kick off interviews and live chats with several Hopscotch contributors.  Keep your eye out for further details and dates.  Be sure to also follow our facebook page and twitter feed to stay update.

Celebrate…

It is wonderful to celebrate Friday afternoon with the arrival of the HOPSCOTCH shipment.   After containing my excitement of finally having eighteen months worth of work in my hands, I open the first box.   To the horror, no Hopscotch.  After two hours of phones and another visit from the courier service – I now have mountains of bright, glossy books.  Hopscotch is finally here!

Enjoy a glass of bubbly tonight.

Hopscotch can be purchased via our online shopping cart www.jellibeanzpublishing.net with same day postage.

Ebook is also available online at:

http://www.amazon.com/Hopscotch-ebook/dp/B006G3YLBE/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1322694015&sr=1-1

Copies will also be available through all good bookstores from December 10th.

All contributor copies and our donated copies to the RCH Ronald McDonald Houses will be despatched over the next few days.    All pre-ordered copies will also be despatched over the next few days.

I am very happy to say that Hopscotch is bright, joyful and very eye-catching!

Gone to print…

After eighteen months of planning, Hopscotch is finally fruiting.  Hopscotch went to print this morning, which is very exciting.  For the past four months I have breathed, dreamt and been consumed by the final production stages of Hopscotch.  Hopscotch is the first in the Packed Lunch series of short stories, artwork and poetry by some of our most favorite children’s authors.  Hopscotch will be available on the 5th December.  Hopscotch virtual launch 15th December.

Order details are available via our website www.jellibeanzpubishing.net

Head down and bottom up…

Hopscotch_Cover_reduced size 15nov2011

Our blog has been slightly neglected of late.  We have had our head down and bottoms up in the production of Hopscotch.  Night and day, I breathe Hopscotch!  It was wonderful to forward a PDF out to all of the contributors with their submission and the cover for final approval.   This has been twelve months in the making.  Selection, typeset design and layout, editing, copyediting, format, contributor agreements, cover design and layout and so forth.  A set of proofs will be ordered tomorrow morning and publication should be within ten days.  I hope you Moet in chilling!

It has been an exciting journey and I look forward to the next installment.

Happy writing Donna
